LEITWIND wind turbines:
simple, efficient productivity.

Direct Drive technology is at the heart of LEITWIND wind turbines: it consists of the direct connection between the rotor and the generator, eliminating the need for a gearbox.

This design reduces the number of high-speed rotating parts, minimising friction and improving operational efficiency.

The reduced number of mechanical parts subject to wear means greater efficiency and reliability, as well as reduced maintenance times.

This patented technology, combined with specific optimised power, makes LEITWIND wind turbines also particularly suited for areas with little wind.

The advantages of LEITWIND modular design

LEITWIND wind turbines are designed using a modular concept, divided into distinct groups of tower heads: the hub, the generator and the main frame.

This approach provides a high level of standardisation among the different wind turbine models.

The Direct Drive generator is integrated centrally into the supporting structure, offering a highly compact, robust design.

The main frame, which is common to all models, is designed to guarantee safety and easy access from the inside to all those parts in need of maintenance.

Modularity also offers significant advantages when it comes to production, maintenance and also logistics, allowing turbine installation even in places that are hard to reach, such as mountain areas.

Technology

The LEITWIND generator family

LEITWIND generators are different from one another due to the size of their external diameter and their axial length. These generators are optimised according to rated power and to the diameter of the LEITWIND wind turbine rotor.

All LEITWIND generators share the same design: multipole alternators with permanent magnets for increased efficiency, and compact thanks to the flux concentration.

The alternators also have segmented active parts, a technology patented by LEITWIND.

This segmentation allows reliable modular production and means that generators can be maintained directly in the tower head, significantly reducing the impact of these interventions.

Technology

Inhouse blade design and production

LEITWIND designs and produces the blades for its wind turbines in house.

Consisting of a support structure made with prefabricated elements at the root and by aerodynamic shells, the rotors are made in epoxy resin reinforced with fibreglass, using RIM technology.

The technical solutions and modular production methods have made inspections easier, guaranteeing top-quality finishes and excellent reliability.

These characteristics are the basis for all models currently in production, such as the LS39, the LS44, the LS39 Typhoon, and the LS20.

Technology

Modular technology of LeitDrive converters

The combination of alternator and IGBT technology used on LeitDrive converters ensure excellent grid compatibility.

LeitDrive frequency converters, developed by LEITWIND, are flexible and adapt to the grid code requirements of operators, and to a wide range of connection parameters.

These frequency converters are able to manage reactive power, in accordance with the power grid, and can also support weak or unstable grids.
