WIND OF RECOVERY IN ITALY: LEITWIND TO INSTALL FURTHER TURBINES IN 2021

30/01/2021: After many years of legislative uncertainty, a period of stability is emerging in Italy: thanks to the ministerial decree FER1, investments in the renewable energy sector increase again. LEITWIND, the leading Italian wind turbine manufacturer with a market share of 42% in the megawatt class, clearly benefits from this upward trend in the Italian market. Indeed, the new year started brilliantly for LEITWIND: Five new supply contracts were signed, with other promising ones under negotiation.

Four LTW90 in the regions of Apulia and Basilicata
LEITWIND´s star remains the LTW90 wind turbine, with a nominal power of 1.0MW. Thanks to its large rotor diameter, this turbine type featuring the proven LEITWIND technology, guarantees top-notch energy generation even at lower wind speeds, while keeping very low maintenance requirements. The confirmed orders comprise the delivery and installation of four LTW90 (950kW HH80) across the Italian regions of Apulia and Basilicata. These territories have been successful for LEITWIND ever since: indeed, more than 100 LEITWIND turbines have been commissioned in Southern Italy, installing approximately 160 MW of clean electricity-generation capacity.

First LEITWIND wind turbine on Sardinia
With another successfully signed contract, LEITWIND celebrates an important milestone: its first turbine built on the windy Italian island of Sardinia. Due to diverging, region-specific permit requirements, this project includes the installation and commissioning of a LTW77 WTG featuring 950kW.
