LEITWIND Signs Contract for the First LTW90 2,000 kW in Turkey
A strategic step that strengthens LEITWIND’s presence in the Eastern Thrace region.
LEITWIND is pleased to announce the renewed collaboration with its Turkish customer, who had already placed trust in the brand’s products and services in 2023 by choosing LEITWIND for the installation of a 1,500 kW wind turbine. In December 2024, the agreement for the supply of an LTW90 2,000 kW turbine was formalized, with installation scheduled for spring 2026 in Kırklareli province, Eastern Thrace. With a 97.5-meter-high tower, this turbine marks a significant milestone for LEITWIND in the Turkish wind energy market.
LEITWIND’s success in Turkey is driven by several factors: cutting-edge technology, an all-inclusive package that not only provides standard wind turbine supply but also constant support throughout all project phases, and a strong local presence. After the foundation of LEITNER TURKEY in May 2012, specializing in ropeway systems, the LEITWIND TURKEY branch was established in Bursa, actively managing the 10 LEITWIND wind farms currently operating in the country.

Not only in Turkey, but also in Italy, the LTW90 model continues to gain significant recognition. In autumn 2024, LEITWIND successfully completed the first LTW90 wind farm in the province of Trapani, Sicily. This project, consisting of three LTW90 turbines of 1,000 kW each, posed a major logistical challenge due to the complex morphology of the territory. However, achieving this goal showcases the company’s expertise in handling installations in challenging environments.
The wind energy sector is undergoing a transformation, with major manufacturers shifting towards turbines with larger rotors and higher power outputs, thereby reducing the availability of megawatt-class turbines. In this challenging context, LEITWIND stands out for its specialization in small and medium-scale projects and repowering operations, solidifying its role as a key partner for communities, SMEs, and local investors.
Despite regulatory and permitting uncertainties, the small and medium-scale wind sector remains a strategic opportunity to maximize the potential of already installed energy infrastructure. LEITWIND is ready to further strengthen its leadership position, making a significant contribution to the global energy transition.
